This box is constructed in the traditional manner of a six-board chest – as you would expect from the name it is made from six boards, five of which are nailed together; the lid is hinged.
It is made of oak and pippy oak with a hardwax oil finish. The ‘defects’ in the pippy oak board are filled with epoxy resin.
